By Chris on Dec 7, 2007 | In Entertainment, Wish List | Send feedback »
Check out this all star lineup of comics performing in LA next Friday, December 14th. Curse geography and the limitations of space-time!!!!
From The Official Eddie Izzard Web Site:
WRITE AID
Eddie Izzard to perform at "Write Aid", a benefit performance to help those affected by the Hollywood writers strike.
"Write Aid" also features comedians Lewis Black, Sarah Silverman, Patton Oswalt and Tenacious D (Jack Black and Kyle Gass)
"Write Aid" will take place Friday, December 14 at 8 p.m. at UCLA’s Royce Hall.
Tickets on sale Friday, December 7 at 12pm PST
Visit www.UCLALive.org or call 310-825-2101
PS: If you haven't seen any of Eddie Izzard's stand up, you should add one
of his DVDs to your Netflix Queue. Circle and Dressed To Kill are my
favorites, followed by Glorious. The other ones are still funny, but a
bit more odd. There is also a pretty extensive library of clips from
his DVDs on YouTube if you search on his name. If nothing else, his bit about Darth Vader at the Death Star canteen is a treat worthy of any Star Wars geek.
Looking for a good Xbox 360 game for post-Christmas fun
By Chris on Dec 18, 2006 | In Entertainment, Hobbies | 2 feedbacks »
So, I've had an Xbox 360 in my possession since late-Spring '06 and the only game that I currently own for it is Oblivion. Not that I haven't gotten my money's worth out of it (1000+ game saves and over 300 hours of play, and still going), but it's not multi-player and I miss hopping on line with the old Gamertag.com crew. I hear Gears of War is a good time, but I don't want to run out and buy a game that everyone else will grow tired of and stop playing in 3-weeks (which is what usually happens). So, if any of you have suggestions for an upcoming game that might have some longevity, I'm all ears!
An old friend's network TV debut
By Chris on Dec 6, 2006 | In Family & Friends, Entertainment | Send feedback »
Tim McKeon, an old friend of mine, has co-produced a TV show movie called Re-animated that will be debuting on the Cartoon Network this Friday (December 8th) at 8:00 PM (EST). The preview looks funny, sort of like Roger Rabbit meets Boy Meets World. I'm sure he would appreciate your personal network share if you're not busy.
Update: There is a more descriptive summary at The Futon Critic website which makes it sound a bit more bizarre, more like what you'd expect from the Cartoon Network. Tim previously wrote for the CN series Fosters Home for Imaginary Friends and The Life & Times of Juniper Lee.
Last.fm - music from artists that are like artists that you like. (insert snarky comment here)

Are you on Last.fm yet? If not, sign up and send me a friend request (chrisbloom7). They have a great selection of music on there from all genres.
What, you've never heard of it?
Well, if you don't know about it yet, it's basically a service that allows you to stream music from artists that are like artists that you like. (That's the second time I wrote that line and I swear there's a joke to be had about it...) They have a player that you download and install, which you can then use to search for music tagged a certain way or similar to another artist. For instance, I've been tuning in to the "Similar to Silent Drive" stream and finding some really great stuff. (Check out the Top 10 listing on the sidebar of my blog.) Every now and then you get a track from that particular artist too.
Some of the music they host is available as a free download or for purchase. Oh, and they track what you like and don't like (via the Love/Hate buttons and depending on what music you skip over) to serve you better selected tracks. And as if that wasn't enough for you, Mr. Self Righteous Bastard, they also have this thing called a "scrobbler", which has nothing to do with fellatio despite what you may think, but instead tracks all of the music that you listen to in other media players (WMP, Winamp, iTunes, even your iPod) and adds it to your Last.fm stats. But wait, there's more - all those stats get used to pair you up with virtual neighbors, members with similar interests, and let you listen in on what they are digging.
That's all under the free account. There is a premium subscription level that allows you to play certain bands on demand, among other equally lascivious perks.
So, if you're over that whole righteous bastard thing, go sign up!
