State of the blogs

Just a quick update about the state of the blogs after the data loss.
- The data is still lost and is likely gone for good. In talking with my hosting provider Hit Catcher, it appears the data originally went missing when their server management company tried to upgrade the server OS. Then before any data could be recovered, an automated backup of the server occurred and overwrote the previous “good” backup. The folks at Hit Catcher have been very empathetic about the whole ordeal and are just as upset at the management company since the incremental backup service that they were paying for didn’t seem to be occuring.
- I’m still trying to get around to back-loading the posts I managed to save via Google’s cache
- Sarah’s blog was affected as well and a new one is now available alongside this one. She writes about her school and motherhood, though she hasn’t christened the new blog software yet.
- The current graphic designs on each blog are temporary and I’m working on either reproducing the old designs or coming up with a common theme for all of them.
- Though Sarah will likely still continue to post things about the kids, I’ve set up a new blog that will be devoted to them. No posts there yet, but we’ll get some soon.
