Update available, sort of
July 4th, 2008I've submitted an update for Clean and Close to make it compatible with FF3, but it's been in the Mozilla review queue for near a week now. I hear they are pretty backed up so it could take a little while longer before it's available for auto-update. Until then, you can download it directly right... here.
I'm also thinking of updating it with a couple of extended features. If you have any requests leave a comment below.
Working on update for FF3
June 17th, 2008I'm still working on the update of Clean & Close for Firefox 3, which was released today. I've hit a small problem that I can't seem to get around, the details of which I posted in the Mozillazine forums for help. So far no responses. If anyone knows someone with development experience who could lend a few minutes to troubleshoot please have them get in touch using the contact form on this site.
New home for Clean & Close
March 23rd, 2007I decided to move Clean And Close to a home of it's own. Previously, announcements and information were mixed in with posts in my personal blog and hopefully this move will make this information easier to find. I'll eventually back-post all of the previous information here, and from now on this will be the place for any new information relating to the development of this Firefox extension. Please feel free to post comments and suggestions!
Clean and Close Version 2-point-oh-my-god
November 15th, 2006I had submitted my Clean and Close 1.1 update to the Mozilla Add-On site, but it was eventually declined due to poor localization support (a petty charge if you ask me).

Your item, Clean And Close 1.1, has been reviewed by a Mozilla Update editor who took the following action:
Approval DeniedYour item was tested by xxx using Firefox 2.0 on Windows NT.
Editor’s Comments:
I’m sorry, but the way you specify texts makes Firefox look weird if it’s used with locales other than English locales. You should use DTD entities to generate your “Close” text, so it integrates seamlessly. Just check chrome://browser/locale/browser.dtd from your browser to see the entities available.
So, following the fragment of a trail left by the reviewer and digging through hundreds of bytes of online documentation, I recrafted Clean and Close into this svelte, auto-localizing version. With any luck, the reviewers will anoint this version with the ever so coveted “approved” status and my legions of adoring fans can finally upgrade with unbridled celebration.

October 25th, 2006Update: See Clean and Close Firefox Extension Updated, Again
With prodding from some English bloke a handsome British chap named Andy, I’ve updated my Clean and Close extension for Firefox to be compatible with the just-released version of Firefox 2.
You can download it from the Mozilla Add-Ons site.
